Classical Guitar Competition
The 19th annual Aguado Classical Guitar Competition will be held in one round on April 24, 25, and 26 at Park View High School, 400 West Laurel Avenue, Sterling, VA 20164. The Chamber and Ensemble Competitions will start on Friday, April 24 at 6 p.m., and the Solo Competition on Saturday, April 25 at 9 a.m. – exact times TBA.
Winners will be announced at the concert, on April 25 at 7:00 PM, at Community Lutheran Church, 21014 Whitfield Place, Sterling, VA 20165. Competitors will receive their prizes and certificates at the Winners Recital and Award Ceremony on Sunday, April 26, at 2 p.m. at the Park View High School Auditorium. First Prize and Special Prize winners will perform in the Winners Recital.
The Aguado Classical Guitar Competition is open to students who study guitar in Loudoun County – at school or privately.
Three entries in solo and three in ensemble categories will be accepted from outside of Loudoun County in the order of applications received.
SOLO CATEGORY
Age Divisions: There will be a separate division for each grade, 7th – 12th. (Younger students may compete in the 7th Grade category.)
Program: Free Choice, not to exceed 8 min.
Prizes in each division: $100 First Prize, $50 Second Prize, $25 Third Prize
Special Prize: Special $100 prize for the best interpretation of a composition by Miroslav Lončar will be awarded by the composer.
The Young Artist Prize of $150 will be awarded to the competitor who shows the highest level of artistry.
GUITAR ENSEMBLE CATEGORY:
Guitar Ensemble Category is open to guitar duos to decets from Loudoun County. All ensembles will compete together in the appropriate age division. Ensembles will compete in the category of the oldest person in the group.

Prizes in each division: Trophies for First, Second and Third places will be awarded.
CHAMBER MUSIC CATEGORY:
Chamber Music Category is open to ensembles from Loudoun County that include at least one guitar plus other instruments, such as: flute, violin, clarinet, cello, voice, etc. The ensembles can be duos, trios, quartets, quintets, and sextets. All ensembles will compete together in the appropriate age division. The ensembles will compete in the category of the oldest person in the group.

COMPETITION FEES: The Solo Competition fee is $22. Students with financial needs can request a fee waiver. The Chamber and Ensemble fees are $27 and there is no waiver.
